Some health problems that affect the silky terrier are intervertebral disc disease, elbow dysplasia, patellar luxation, legg-Perthes, diabetes, epilepsy and tracheal collapse. It is important that when contacting a Silky Terrier breeder that you express health concern issues and ask the breeder what they are doing in order to help mimimize them.

Country of Origin: Australia - Developed in the 19th century by using various British terrier breeds, primarily Australian and Yorkshire. The name accustomed to being part of the family. Brought to the US in the 1800's by Olaf Swenson a fur trader and explorer. Siberians won the big Alaska Race 3 consecutive years. Team led by Balto ran serum to Nome in 1925 averting a diptheria epidemic.

Character: This dog is upbeat, lively, intelligent, loyal, and surprisingly protective.

Temperment: Silky Terriers need to get used to cats when young to avoid chasing them later on. Normally they are very affectionate with children. They will bark when visitors arrive.

Coat: Long, smooth, silky, and shiny. There is no undercoat. Steel-blue is the most prized color. The most common color is light to dark blue-grey with brown.

Care Regular grooming (for 15 minutes a day) with a brush and comb is required. Occasional baths are acceptable. The teeth must be checked for tartar. This breed is not known for shedding.

Colour: Blue/tan

Comments: The Husky is a working dog and, if not given adequate attention, exercise, training, and discipline, can be stubborn and easily bored. Tend to be aloof but love people. High energy, has tendency to run and dig, have hunting instincts. Love cold .
