Irish Wolfhounds are prone to cardiomyopathy, bone cancer, bloat, PRA, Von Willebrands and hip dysplasia. It is important that when contacting a Irish Wolfhound breeder that you express health concern issues and ask the breeder what they are doing in order to help mimimize them.
Please don't purchase your Irish Wolfhound from a petstore which commonly are known to support Irish Wolfhound puppy mills. Temperment:
This dog gets along well with children, other dogs, and any household pets. There will be no problems provided early socialization has taken place.
Coat:
Is rather unkempt-looking, cough, coarse and hard. Can be plain white, brown, black, red, or grey.
Care
Regular grooming with a brush and comb is required. Twice a year, dead hair will need to be plucked from the coat.
