Country of Origin: Great Britain though it descends from Europe - The original pointing dog, probably developed around 1650. This is one of the oldest recorded pointing breeds and is probably the breed from which most other pointing breeds have derived as it is most efficient. Major arkwright credited with the creation of the modern Pointer which is faster with greater scent ability. Considered th emost efficient of the sporting breeds. Believed to have derived from Greyhound, Setter and Foxhound.

Character: This dog is happy, alert, animated, and intelligent. It has a good memory and is obedient. It is a little less confident around strangers.

Coat: Usual colors are grey or white with grey or black. However, other colors are permissible. The exterior is long and wire-haired while the under-layer is soft.
