Country of Origin: Yugoslavia - developed in the middle ages - a breed of incredible endurance, able to travel at a moderate pace almost indefinitely. Dates back at least to 16th century. Nicknamed Spotted Dick, Fire House Dog, Plum Pudding Dog and Bengal Harrier. Once a carriage dog, it naturally adapted to the role of fire brigade mascot helping to find and rescue fire victims. Recent notoriety with the film

Character: This dog is sociable, full of stamina, friendly, and affectionate.

Temperment: This breed makes a good playmate for children, although it may be a little too rambunctious for smaller children. It can be watchful around strangers. Dalmatians get along well with other dogs or household pets.

Care Loose hairs should be removed daily by grooming with a rubber glove when the dog is shedding.

Colour: Pure white base w/round spots of either black or liver evenly distributed all over the body

Comments: Wary enough to be a watchdog, his devotion to his family is undying. Wirehaireds require much more grooming than other Dachs coats. Smart, but stubborn. Difficult to housetrain in bad weather. Independent nature. Great raised with kids from a young .
