The Shiba Inu is susceptible to patella luxation and hip dysplasia. It is important that when contacting a Shiba Inu breeder that you express health concern issues and ask the breeder what they are doing in order to help mimimize them.

Country of Origin: Japan - Name means Merle Highland Collie, the Black and Tan Kelpie and the Dalmatian.

Character: Shiba Inu are curious, cheerful, and watchful. They bond closely with their owners. They are easily housebroken and bark infrequently.

Temperment: They are normally reserved around children and strangers but they normally get along well with all living things.

Coat: Short, straight-haired, with a soft undercoat. The most common colors are red, red and white, white, black, black and tan, and salt-and-pepper.

Care Periodically remove dead hairs with a metal-toothed comb.

Colour: Deep red, red and black hairs w/red predominant, black/tan, black and red hairs w/black predominant, white, lighter red, brindle w/white markings

Comments: Very loving temperament. Loves receiving affection. Natural protection dogs, good with children and family. Great obedience dogs with a tremendous desire to please. .
