A straight-away sprinter, he can cover 200 yards in 12 seconds. There is controversy over whether the breed derives from Italian Greyhound-Terrier ancestry or miniaturized all Greyhound. Developed in Britain initially as a coursing hound first on rabbit, then eventually on rtificial lures. Brought by Lancashire textile workers to New England, where they were raced successfully.
