Meiko is a neutered male, approximate age 3 years old. He is a white/cream colored young male Akita. He was rescued from a local shelter after he was taken from his owners on a humane seizure. Meiko was chained up in a backyard with little food or water. When we took him from the shelter, he was only 80 pounds, probably at least ten pounds underweight. He still has plenty of growing ahead of him and will probably top out at 110 pounds or more.
Meiko is intelligent, willful, and loves to play. He loves attention and enjoys being petted. He is a large dog who is strong in both body and spirit, and because of his history, he needs a home with an experienced Akita owner to help him learn proper house dog manners and social skills. He is making steady progress in his foster home and has all the makings of a wonderful companion.
He would do great in a home with a single adult or young couple. Because he is so enthusiastic and powerful, he should go to a home without young children (under 16) or other pets.
