The Border Terrier is prone to dislocated knee caps however this breed is generally insensitive to pain. It is important that when contacting a Border Terrier breeder that you express health concern issues and ask the breeder what they are doing in order to help mimimize them.
Please don't purchase your Border Terrier from a petstore which commonly are known to support Border Terrier puppy mills. Doing so only promotes inproper breeding ethics and promotes current Border Terrier health issues. The AKC, UKC, FCI, CKC, SKC, WWKC, FIC registries recognize the Border Terrier breed standard.

Character:
This breed is brave and tenacious, and occasionally stubborn. It is sporty and seemingly untiring. It is loyal to its handler and good with children.
Temperment:
If socialized early, this breed gets along well with other pets. It gets along well with children.
Coat:
Is hard and thick with a dense undercoat. Allowable colors are red, wheat, or grey with grey markings.
Care
The coat may need to be plucked occasionally but must never be trimmed. It must be groomed thoroughly at least once a week.
