Country of Origin: Scotland - This breed is one of the most recognized shaggy sheep dogs. This breed is a combination of Polish Lowland Sheepdogs which were brought to Scotland and then crossed with local farm collies and used in the Highland shepherding. The Bearded Collie evolved from Polski Owczarek Nizinnys

Character: This dog is high-spirited, clever and cheerful. It is active, independent and sociable.

Temperment: This breed gets along well with other household pets, children and even strangers.

Coat: Bearded Collies have a wooly and dense undercoat. Their outer coat is long, straight and rough.

Care This breed requires grooming at least twice a week. Its hair must be brushed and combed and parted along the back.

Colour: Brown, fawn, black, blue w/white in Irish pattern

Comments: They are very bright and high-energy dogs. Make loving family pets and good show dogs, therapy dogs, but if not given enough mental and physical exercise they will invent their own. Beardies were not bred as order takers but were bred to work as part of a dog-human team. They are muscular medium sized dogs which resemble their ancestors, the old English Sheepdog
